CESL is the best school for studying the English language in Carbondale because the subjects are very interesting, people are nice and there are many things to support the program. It is not far from SIUC. So it's very easy to come and study here.
Placement of students into the CESL program is determined by the results of an institutional Toefl test which is administered to all students at the beginning of each term. It has a lot of levels: GE1, GE2, AE1, AE2, EAP1, and EAP2. Almost all AE classes study Core, Grammar, Newsletter and Fluency. The core class helps you to understand American life. The grammar class helps you to know how to use what is correct. The newsletter class helps you learn how to write reports and letters. And the fluency class helps you learn how to speak in the English language. I think it is very interesting because we can use these classes in real life, too. CESL teachers are very friendly and helpful. If you don't understand the lessons, you can go to their offices or email them. Your classmates come from other countries, so you can learn about their culture. And you can practice your English, too.
CESL students can use the Recreation Center by presenting their CESL ID card, and then the students will be given a membership card to use in the turnstile. You can exercise or play sports that you like: basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and racquetball. When you have good health, you can study well, too. It's a good place to practice your pronunciation. CESL students can use the LMC for practicing the English language. The LMC has I-Macs and Power Macs set up for interactive language learning with CD-Rom. In addition, there are five cable-connected video combination TV /VCR setups with closed captioning. A growing number of videos are available which can be viewed in the room at the back of the center. It is the best place for studying and learning the English language. You can use the Internet to send email to your family and your friends. It makes you feel good, and then you can study better, too.
CESL students can use Morris Library for studying and researching whatever they want to know about. So I think CESL is the best place for studying the English language in Carbondale.
In Carbondale there are a lot of stores. For example there is: K-Mart, The Mall, Krogers, Schnucks, Lowes and Wal-Mart. But I think that "Wal-Mart" is the best store in Carbondale because there are a lot of items, the location is convenient and the services are good.
If you want to buy something, you can buy it at Wat-Mart. In Wal-Mart, there are a lot of items which you can choose and buy from. Some examples are: fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, cookies, cereal, soda, meats, frozen foods, snack foods, condiments, coffee, tea, baking products, jams, paper products, baby products, pet foods, clothes and household items. The fruits and vegetables are fresh. The breads are delicious. The items are new. The prices of products are also cheaper than any store. You can buy everything at Wal-Mart and not go anywhere else. It saves you time.
The location of Wal-Mart is easy to get to. It is near the main street. The parking lots are very big and convenient. Inside Wal-Mart it is big and very clean. The atmosphere is good. While you are choosing something in Wal-Mart, it's convenient. The items are classified and it's easy to find items.
The service is good because when you have a problem about an item, you can ask a person who works there to help you. They will explain everything that you want to know about it. The most important reason that everybody likes to go is that you can go whenever because it is open 24 hours.
Giant City Park is the Best Place in Southern Illinois
The best place in Southern Illinois is Giant City Park. It is a lustily forested region and it has a lot of animals. Many people come to this place on weekends because I think there is beautiful scenery, wild animals, and a good view.
I like Giant City Park because it is a good place. Why is it a good place? I think it is abundant in nature and wild animals so I like this place.
I like forests especially in the fall because there are tinted autumnal leaves that are very beautiful. There are a lot of people who live close to nature. They arenít against nature so I think this area is abundant in nature. People coexistence together with nature so this place can be maintained.
Nearby, there are a lot of animals, especially deer and squirrels etc... I like animals so I usually get good feelings but sometimes the feelings are bad because some cars kill animals. I once went to the roadside and saw some animals dead. I became disgusted. I felt so bad.
There is a good view because it is located high and it has tower for viewing. Now, you can see tinted autumnal leaves. So if you visit, I recommend going in the evening because it is so beautiful. I think you should go there now.
I like Giant City Park because there is a beautiful forest, animals, and view. There it is very quiet so I can relax. I will go there again soon.
There are not many bookstores in Carbondale except for Barns Noble Books Seller. It is a very nice place, because there are a lot of things that are beautiful. Barnes and Noble is the best bookstore because there have coffee shop, kids court, and a lot of books, newspapers and magazines.
The coffee shop has many tables and chairs, and it is very comfortable and itís a nice place to study and talk with your friends and drink some coffee or do anything you want. They have large amount of hot drink and desserts.
The kids court is very nice place for the children. It has a lot of stuff, such as learning, stores books, and some toys. My daughter enjoys this place. When I take her there she is happy and smiling because she likes the color of the wall, small table and chairs. Any parents can take their children to learn something, play toys, and talk with other children.
The Barnes and Noble store has many different books, magazine, and daily newspapers. The most important U.S. and local newspapers are available every day. There are many sections for different books and subjects, such as travel, family, computers...etc.
International Grocery is not just a store in Carbondale. It is different from other stores. It is different because it has many international things that are not in other stores and helps international people who miss home. Many Asian people especially like to go there, because it has many kinds of native foods.
International Grocery has many international foods, such as Misosiru, a material for Japanese soup. Soy sauce is made in Korea. Tofu is a material for Chinese soup. Bulgogy sauce is made in Korea. Because of these foods, it does not have only Asian visitors but also Americans that want to eat Asian foods. For example, Korean people can buy Kim-Chi is a traditional Korean food in International Grocery. Actually, when Korean people eat American food, they want to eat Kim-Chi because American food is too fatty and oily. In International Grocery many Korean people say "Do you have Kim-Chi, today?" Why do many Korean people say that in International Grocery? They say it because it is the only store that has Kim-Chi in Carbondale.
Everyone likes their hometown. Because almost everyone was born in a hometown and grew up there, so there are many memories there. Maybe I think the reason why people like their hometown is the same reason why people like international grocery. Many Asians in Carbondale live in different places from where they grew up, so they miss their hometown. And International Grocery solves this problem a little bit.
